Snowmass
Snowmass Village is a purpose built resort similar to Vail as it was created in an area that enjoys higher than the surrounding areas average snowfall. Right around 8000 feet most of the homes condos and resorts have direct access onto the ski trails.
Snowmass is more than just winter time one of the best kept secrets is the fabulous summer weather and to celebrate it there is almost always something going on in Snowmass itself or in Aspen like the Aspen Jazz Festival and the Food and Wine festival which bring in thousands of visitors specifically for these summer events.
The weather in Snowmass is almost always ideal winter or summer with the highs during the ski season normally in the 30's and 40's and in the summer you can expect highs in low 80's under mostly sunny skies. If it were not for the fact that Snowmass was in the mountains, this would be desert.
The colors in autumn moves down from the higher elevations into the valley, so the season unlike non mountainous areas is much longer, with the higher elevations starting in late August and the down valley almost into early October. Many people prefer to visit at this time for the reduced rates and more relaxed pace of the shoulder season.
Snowmass has just 3 main roads Snow melt which runs through the two base areas and wood road and faraway road there is also a road that runs up to the Continental divide but this road is more geared towards locals
Snowmass is serviced by the Aspen Pitkin County Airport with the great majority of visitors flying in. Some in the winter season will consider flying into Vail Eagle airports to lessen the chance of getting stuck by the snowstorms that do sometimes close the Aspen airport while the Vail Eagle airport remains open. To get to Snowmass most people will take hotel shuttles, private cars and Airport shuttle service Sno Limos which has a convenient meet and greet booth right inside the Arrivals baggage claim area come up and identify yourself and we can help you with all of your luggage after you are here on vacation and it can start right inside the Aspen Airport to Snowmass from the Aspen Airport.
